We are glad to inform you that the Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp 2012 will be conducted at KV Panchgram from 1st to 5th December 2012. Following are the details of the Camp.

Who can attend     :                Scouts/Guides between 12 – 15 years of age and have
                                                Completed Dwitiya Sopan and presently working for
                                                Tritiya Sopan Badge.

Quota                     :                10 Scouts/Guides + 1 Scouter/Guider (Escort)

Fee Details             :                Registration Fees: Rs. 100 (only for Scouts/Guides)
Camp Fees: DA as per KVS Norms for 4 camping days per    participant.

What to Bring        :                Following materials must be carried by each participant:
Complete and Correct Uniform as per APRO – II/III, Registration Form, General Log Book and Proficiency Badge Log Books, Personal Cloths, Toilet Requisites, Plate, Mug, Spoon, Pens, Sketch Pens, Torch, Knotting Rope, Mosquito repellant Cream, personal medicines (if any), White T Shirt & Navy Blue Shorts for Physical Jerks, Winter Garments and Sleeping bags/Bedding Blankets.
*Uniform is compulsory for Escort Scouters/Guiders also.


Programme           :                 Testing from Pravesh to Tritiya Sopan, Mapping and Star                                        
                                                Gazing, Back Woods Cooking, Signalling, Quiz, Campfire etc

Application            :                 The List of participants should reach Principal, KV,
                                                     Panchgram   on or before 10.11.2012 attested by the Principal (format enclosed). Two passport size photos in Scout/Guide uniform to be submitted at the time of registration in the camp.

Report of 272nd NATIONAL ADVENTURE PROGRAMME at NTC Pachmarhi from 22nd to 28th Sept. 2012

As a part of BS&G activities, 59 scouts, one trainer and 6 Scouters from our Silchar Division participated in the 272nd National Adventure Programme at National Adventure Institute, Pachmarhi from 22nd to 28th September 2012.
With the Blessings of Shri. S. Shrivastav ji, Deputy Commissioner, Shri. C. Mani ji, Assistant Commissioner and Shri. R. Senthil Kumar ji, Assistant Commissioner of KVS RO Silchar, 66 participants of seven Vidyalayas of Silchar Region assembled at Guwahati Railway Station on 18th of Sept.2012. After 2 days of travel, the contingent reached NAI Pachmarhi on 21st of September 2012 in the evening accompanying heavy rain. A warm welcome was given by the Deputy Director of the Institute, Mr. J. N. Misra. The participants were aloted tent acomodation with blankets and groundsheets for a comfortable stay. Contingents from UP Sainik School and Bikaner University also joined the programme making a total of 184 participants.

On 22nd September 2012, the programme started with Formal Flag break followed by Camp Integration by the Programme Staff. The participants were taken for a camp tour after the tea break.

On 23rd September 2012, the participants were taken on a hike on foot for 24 kms in and around Pachmarhi as a warming up exercise.
On 24th September, Trekking to Jatashankar and Mahadev Caves was organised. In the evening, there was a very colourful campfire.

On 25th of September, Participants were taken for Obstacles crossing in the Challenge Valley like; Commando Bridge, Balance Walk, Tyre Crossing, Russian Wall, Rope Climbing, Tower Climbing, Ball Throw, Electrical Net, Tunnel Crossing, Monkey Crawling, Monkey Bridge Crossing etc. In the second half of the day, the participants were taken a place which is centre point of India which is located in Pachmarhi known as 'Lord Shrung'. This was followed by campfire at night.

On 26th of September, Participants went for the longest and toughest trek of the programme. It was trekking to Chauragarh. Inspite of intermittent rain, the participants, will full of zeal, reached the target in the given time enjoying the beauty of Queen of Satpura hills.

On 27th of September, Participants were taken for Horse Riding, Rifle Shooting, Pistol Shooting and Archery. This was followed by Valley Crossing, Rock Climbing and Commando Climbing in the second half of the day. In the evening, the participants put up a fantabulous show in the Grand Campfire which was followed by Grand Dinner.

On 28th September, which was the last day of the programme, All Faiths Prayer was organised which expressed the spiritual dimension scouting. After the Flag break, the participants were called for an Open Session, Final talk and Distribution of Certificates. The programme came to an end with Flag Lowering and Dismissal.
With mind full of memories, and sweetness of Pachmarhi's beauty in heart, the participants proceed to on 29th and reached Guwahati on 01st OCtober 2012 from where they dispursed to their respective KVs.

The Contingent was lead by Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S), Divisional Secretary of Silchar Division ably assisted by Mr. D. Chakravarthy, DTC(S) and Mr. RK Gupta, DOC(S) & QM.
Thanks to the efforts and strong motivation of Shri. R. Senthil Kumar ji, Assistant Commissioner, KVS RO Silchar who made the participation possible.

Pravesh Requirements

3. Scout/Guide Law

1. A Scout/Guide is Trust worthy.

4. A Scout/Guide is courteous.
5. A Scout/Guide is a friend to animals and loves nature.
6. A Scout/Guide is disciplined and helps protect public property.

8. A Scout/Guide is thrifty.
9. A Scout/Guide is pure in thought, word and deed.


4. Scout/Guide Motto

"Be Prepared"
This is achieved by being physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.


5. Scout/Guide 
    a) Sign:

The Scout/Guide Sign is given by raising the Right hand in level with the shoulder, palm to the front with three fingers stretched together and thumb closing on the little finger.
  • The Sign is given at the time of Investiture or at the time of renewal of the Scout/Guide promise.
  • The Sign reminds Parts of the Promise made and forms the basis of the Salute.
  • The thumb covering the little finger stands for protecting the weaker people.

      b) Salute:
The scout/Guide salute is a secret sign used only by the Scouts and Guides all over the world amongst    themselves.

Scout/Guide Salute is given by raising the right arm smartly to the level of the shoulder, palm to the front with the three fingers stretched together, the first touching the forehead one inch above the right eyebrow and thumb closing on the little finger. And after that, the arm cutting to the front is quickly and smartly down curling the fingers.

The Salute reminds, members of the promise taken. The 3 fingers held upright represent the 3 fold Promise.

A special case comes with Scout/Guide staff or when right hand is engaged: -
        When a Scout/Guide is carrying his/her Staff in his/her right hand or engaged otherwise, he will bring his left arm smartly across the body along the belt-line in a horizontal position. Palm facing down, the fingers showing the Scout/Guide Sign and be kept just along the belt-line for a period.

When to salute: -
1. None should wait to be saluted but "Salute First" irrespective of age and position.
2. All Scouts/Guides in uniform should salute each other only at their first meet during a day and when they part for the day.
3. During hoisting of National Flag and Bharat Scouts & Guides Flag, World Scouts Flag World Guides Flag.
4. Playing of National Anthem.
5. To funerals of Scout and National Leaders.
6. While in a rally or Group "file" none should Salute but the leader of the rally or "file" should Salute and others should stand in Attention Position. The only Exception is during National Anthem or Flag Honoring, when all present Salute.
