As a part of BS&G activities, 59 scouts, one trainer and 6 Scouters from our Silchar Division participated in the 272nd National Adventure Programme at National Adventure Institute, Pachmarhi from 22nd to 28th September 2012.
With the Blessings of Shri. S. Shrivastav ji, Deputy Commissioner, Shri. C. Mani ji, Assistant Commissioner and Shri. R. Senthil Kumar ji, Assistant Commissioner of KVS RO Silchar, 66 participants of seven Vidyalayas of Silchar Region assembled at Guwahati Railway Station on 18th of Sept.2012. After 2 days of travel, the contingent reached NAI Pachmarhi on 21st of September 2012 in the evening accompanying heavy rain. A warm welcome was given by the Deputy Director of the Institute, Mr. J. N. Misra. The participants were aloted tent acomodation with blankets and groundsheets for a comfortable stay. Contingents from UP Sainik School and Bikaner University also joined the programme making a total of 184 participants.
On 22nd September 2012, the programme started with Formal Flag break followed by Camp Integration by the Programme Staff. The participants were taken for a camp tour after the tea break.
On 23rd September 2012, the participants were taken on a hike on foot for 24 kms in and around Pachmarhi as a warming up exercise.
On 24th September, Trekking to Jatashankar and Mahadev Caves was organised. In the evening, there was a very colourful campfire.
On 25th of September, Participants were taken for Obstacles crossing in the Challenge Valley like; Commando Bridge, Balance Walk, Tyre Crossing, Russian Wall, Rope Climbing, Tower Climbing, Ball Throw, Electrical Net, Tunnel Crossing, Monkey Crawling, Monkey Bridge Crossing etc. In the second half of the day, the participants were taken a place which is centre point of India which is located in Pachmarhi known as 'Lord Shrung'. This was followed by campfire at night.
On 26th of September, Participants went for the longest and toughest trek of the programme. It was trekking to Chauragarh. Inspite of intermittent rain, the participants, will full of zeal, reached the target in the given time enjoying the beauty of Queen of Satpura hills.
On 27th of September, Participants were taken for Horse Riding, Rifle Shooting, Pistol Shooting and Archery. This was followed by Valley Crossing, Rock Climbing and Commando Climbing in the second half of the day. In the evening, the participants put up a fantabulous show in the Grand Campfire which was followed by Grand Dinner.
On 28th September, which was the last day of the programme, All Faiths Prayer was organised which expressed the spiritual dimension scouting. After the Flag break, the participants were called for an Open Session, Final talk and Distribution of Certificates. The programme came to an end with Flag Lowering and Dismissal.
With mind full of memories, and sweetness of Pachmarhi's beauty in heart, the participants proceed to on 29th and reached Guwahati on 01st OCtober 2012 from where they dispursed to their respective KVs.
The Contingent was lead by Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S), Divisional Secretary of Silchar Division ably assisted by Mr. D. Chakravarthy, DTC(S) and Mr. RK Gupta, DOC(S) & QM.
