THE BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES – KVS STATE - SILCHAR DIVISION

REPORT OF PATROL LEADERS TRAINING CAMP 2013-14

The Bharat Scouts and Guides – KVS State – Silchar Division conducted Patrol Leaders Training Camp at KV Silchar from 28^th to 30^th of September 2013 in which 78 Scouts and 41 Guides along with 24 escort teachers participated from 17 Vidyalayas of the region. They all reported at the venue on 27^th of September 2013.

28.09.2013Following Flag break at 8.00am, the Camp was inaugurated by Shri. Somit Shrivastava, Deputy Commissioner of KVS Silchar Division. While addressing the gathering, he highlighted the twenty six virtues mentioned in Shrimad Bhagawat Geeta and inspired the participants to follow them in their life. He also said that all should follow the Scout-Guide motto ‘Be Prepared’ at all times for everything in life.

Shri. R. Senthil Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of KVS Silchar Division who was the Guest of Honour, highlighted the achievements of Silchar division in the field of Scouting and Guiding. He said that A year before, there were only two schools representing for Rajyapuraskar award. But this year it has raised to 14 Schools with 63 Scouts and Guides who have qualified for Rajyapuraskar.

At the outset, Shri. M.M. katiyar, Principal, KV Silchar, welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, officials of the Division and gathering.

Shri. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S), Divisional Secretary of KVS BS&G Silchar  and Leader of the Camp, briefed the objectives and schedule of the Training Camp. Mrs. Jhuma Nath, Guide Captain of the Venue Vidyalaya delivered the Vite of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants of the camp. Smt. Sharmishtha Biswas compered the entire programme.

After the inauguration, the participants had a camp integration by the Leader of the Camp followed by Patrol Division and Distribution of materials by the camp staff. This was followed by an input session on Patrol System. After lunch, the participants were asked to prepare patrol corners which they did with full enthusiasm and creative ideas.

After the tea break, the Youth Staff were briefed about the games session. There were 10 Bases with varius fun, challenging and team games. The participants enjoyed the session to the core.

After the games, they were let free to prepare for the campfire. Due to Rain, the campfire was interrupted. After the dinner, Shri. R. Senthil Kumar, AC, KVS RO Silchar, took a session on Leadership and Personality Development. This was an interactive session in which all the participants contributed to the fruitful discussion.

At 9.00pm the participants played a night game called ‘Light House’ in the fields. Lights were turned out at 10.00pm after the PLs meet.

29.09.2013

The camp was roused by the Youth Staff by 05.30.am following which there was an assessment of B.-P Exercise. After this, the participants prepared their dwelling places for Morning Inspection. At 07.30am there was a flag break followed by breakfast. In the morning sessions, topics like Patrol System 2, Court of Honour, Advanced Knots etc. were taken by the Youth staff under the guidance of the camp officials. After lunch, the participants were assigned with various pioneering projects which were really challenging to them. Following the tea break, the participants were let for grand campfire preparation.

The Grand Campfire at 06.00am was opened by Shri. Somit Shrivastava, DC, KVS RO Silchar. Shri. R. Senthil Kumar, AC, was the guest fo honour. Shri. SK. Saxena, Miss. Mariam Zuberi, Principals of neighbouring Vidyalayas were also present in the occasion along with their families. Earlier, Shri. MM. Katiyar, Principal, KV Silchar, welcomed the gathering. Shri. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S), Leader of the Camp presented the camp report. This was followed by vatiety entertainment and scout stunt by the participants of the camp. There was a presentation of Audio Visuals with glimpses of the PLs Training Camp. Following the grand campfire, all the dignitaries and campers were invited for a grand dinner. It was called a day after the PLs meet at 10.00pm.

30.09.2013

The campers rouse at 05.30 am and participated in the physical jerks. Following this, there was an All Faith Prayer meeting and Flag break. After Breakfast, the participants were given an input session on Patrol System and Troop. This was followed by an exclusive session on Rashtrapati Award to Prospective Rashtrapati Scouts of the Division. At 10.30 am, the participants played an Integration Game. Then there was an open session.

At 11.00am, there was a Valedictory function in which the Venue Principal, Shri. MM. Katiyar was the Chief Guest. He presented the participation certificates to all the campers and blessed them.The Flag was lowered at 12.00pm after dismantling the projects in the field. The Participants left for their Vidyalayas after a delicious lunch.

The Leader of the camp was assisted by Smt. Roel Mary Rose, DTC(G), Mr. Nalin Chandra Gupta, DOC (S) Dist. 1, Mr. Vikash Kumar, DOC(S) Dist. 2 and Mr. Leonard Bey, Dist. HQ. Commr. (Trg). Mr. Sujay, CM of KV SIlchar was the Camp Quartermaster.
