INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE
Dear Brothers
and Sister of KVS,
After a few
days from now we, all Indians, will celebrate 65th anniversary of
the glorious moment of our independence. While we bask in the glory of our
independence on one hand, let all of us not forget supreme sacrifices that were
paid as price for our freedom. We must tell ourselves and our children
countless heroic deeds of valour and courage and self sacrifice of countless
freedom fighters that preceded India’s independence. That will bring in us and
our children a sense of responsibility that the hard won freedom needs to be
guarded against from all possible threats arising from within and without the
lands of India. Each one of us needs to remain vigilant and ever wakeful in
protecting our freedom.
More dangerous than an outside enemy is the enemy inside us. One
thing common in all freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices was that they
acted out of unselfish motive, rejecting their narrow selfish little self. They
identified themselves with something bigger transcending their narrow interest.
Our personal needs and personal aspirations, even this life is not very
important. What is important is the idea that we are working out. Let us
fiercely guard ourselves, our time and our attention to be squandered on
narrow selfish interest. It is not worth it.
Slothfulness
– not acting even when there is an understanding that we should act, is a formidable inner foe that needs to
conquered, rather annihilated. Scriptures say that there is one all pervading
life of which we are various manifestations. Let us celebrate life in its
wholeness inclusive of everything. I wish each one you a very Happy
Independence Day.
Jai
Hind.
