Syllabus for Rashtrapati Scout Award as per APRO part II

Rashtrapati Scout Award: As per APRO Part II page 46-49

A (i) The President of the Indian Union who is the chief patron of the Bharat Scouts and Guides has been graciously pleased to authorize the issue of a special certificate to a Scout who earns the Rashtrapati Scout Award and has completed fourteen years of age and after serving as a Rajyapuraskar Scout for at least 12 months.

(ii) The Scoutmaster who is advanced trained shall inform the National Headquarters through proper channel on a registration form available from the State Headquarters that Rajya Puraskar Scout is completing requirements of Rashtrapati Scout Award, The Scout shall record his attainments for Rashtrapati Scout Award on the said form and submit the same to the National Headquarters through proper channel and in the absence of the Scoutmaster in exceptional case the Assistant Scoutmaster who is Advanced Trained will be competent to make recommendations.

(iii) Rashtrapati Scout Award certificates are presented at a formal ceremony by the President of India on the advice of the National Commissioner.

(iv) Rashtrapati Scout Badge shall be worn on the left sleeve below the Shoulder Stripes and above the Rajyapuraskar Badge along with the qualifying proficiency Badges for Rajya Puraskar and Rashtrapati Award.

(v) The National Commissioner whi is the final authority to grant Rashtrapati Scout Award shall issue from time to time suitable directives in respect of Badge, tests etc. and ensure the standard of skills involved.

(vi) A Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster will recommend only up to 25% Scouts of the total Census of the unit (not exceeding 32) for Rashtrapati Award in a year. Special cases could be recommended by the District Chief Commissioner subject to maximum of 30% in a year.

Test for Rashtrapati  Scout Award

1.       Hold Rajya Puraskar Award

2.       Camping:

i)                    Camp atleaset three nights consecutively with his Troop/Patrol or with another scout in open. Organisation gatherings like rallies, jamborees etc. are not counted for this.

ii)                   Know the uses of the following:

Handsaw, Chopper, Hammer, Hand Axe, Knife, Wedges.

iii)                 Be able to improvise either a shelter or a hut or a machan with available natural materials for two persons to sleep.

3.       Hold Ambulance man Badge.

4.       Qualify for any two of the following proficiency badges not earned earlier.

a)      Camper       b) Secretary    c) Rural worker    d) Electronics    e) Fireman   f) Forester    g) Journalist    h) Leprosy Control

5.       Participate in a service project to Community for not less than 36 hours spread over a period of at least two months and must work atleast one day in a week.

Prepare a diary for work done and submit it to the Court-of –honour week after week.

6.       Undertake overnight hike for 10kms, along with another Scout and submit report to the Scoutmaster within 10 days.

OR

An overnight cycle hike for 50kms with another Scout and submit report to the Scoutmaster within 10 days.

7.       Participate in a sustained Community Development project on Health, or on Conservation or Literacy or small saving scheme at least for 6 months under Prime Minister Shield Competition Scheme.

8.       Work as a Badge Instructor of a Pack or a Troop in the Vicinity.

OR

Teach games for younger children for fifteen days.

9.       Serve as Rajya Puraskar Scout at least twelve months.

10.   Have a knowledge about the WOSM website and gain information about Asia Pacific Region.

11.   Help the boy to gain informations & experience about commonly used technologies.

Note: At the time of Rashtrapati Award Testing Camp, a Scout shall produce his individual progress card.

REPORT OF SCOUT GUIDE ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 2012-13

Group Registration and Renewal
Group registration and renewal was done throughout April 2012 for the year 2012-13. A total of 27 units renewed and 3 new units got registered.

Rajyapuraskar Testing Camp 2012
Pre- test camp and Rajyapuraskar Testing camp was conducted at KV Lumding from 12^th to 16^th July 2012 in which 31 scouts participated. They were tested in the Scout skills right from Pravesh to Rajyapuraskar in which 24 scouts were qualified and recommended for the award.

Divisional Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee meeting of the BS&G Silchar Division for the year 2012-13 was held at KVS RO Silchar on 2^nd August 2012. The minutes of the meeting was circulated to all the Vidyalayas.

272^nd National Adventure Programme

59 scouts, one trainer and 6 Scouters from Silchar Division participated in the 272nd National Adventure Programme at National Adventure Institute, Pachmarhi from 22nd to 28th September 2012. The Participants underwent various activities like Trekking, Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Hiking, Shooting, Archery, Obstacle Crossing, Tracking, Campfire etc. All the participants of our region received merit certificates with ‘A’ grade.

Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp 2012

The Bharat Scouts and Guides KVS State Silchar Division organized Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp for the year 2012 at KV Panchgram from 1^st to 5^th of December 2012. A total of 135 scouts and guides from 17 Vidyalayas participated in the camp . The Participants were tested on various scouting skills from Pravesh to Tritiya Sopan. The first General Body Meeting of the Unit Leaders was organized in the camp in which 17 Unit Leaders took part. 130 Scouts and Guides got qualified for the badge.

PARTOL LEADERS WORKSHOP  2012

Silchar Division organized the first Patrol Leaders Workshop at KV Srikona from 8^th to 10^th of February 2013. A total of 187 scouts and guides from 16 vidyalayas participated in the camp which is a record break. The participants were trained in Various Scouting Skills like Pioneering, Campcraft, Mapping, Patrolling, BP Exercise, Campfire, Leadership Styles, Team Building etc. Mr. R. Senthil Kumar, AC, KVS RO presented a Lecture on Leadership and Personality Development. There was also a second General Body Meeting of Unit Leaders in the Workshop.

Reorientation Course for Trainers
Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) underwent the 110^th Reorientation Course for Trainers held at National Youth Complex of the BS&G NHQ from 24^th to 28^th November 2012 and got qualified.

National Integration Camp

Six Guides of KV Masimpur participated in the National Integration Camp held at National youth Complex of the Bharat Scouts and Guides NHQ from 26^th November to 2^nd December 2012. The Guides exposed their talent in various competitions like Traditions of India, Food Plaza, Campfire, Exhibition, State Exposition, Pageantry etc. Mrs. Rikta mitra, DOC (G) was the leader of the contingent.

Training Course for Adult Leaders

Basic and Advanced Training Courses for Adult Leaders was conducted at KV NIT Silchar from 20^th to 27^th Feb. 2013. Basic Course for Cub Masters with 19 Participants was lead by Mr. Ramayan Choudhury, ALT(c). Basic Course for  Guide Captains  with 12 participants  was lead by Mrs. Neela Das, ALT (G) and Advanced Course for Scoutmasters with 16 participants was lead by Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) ably assisted by the divisional officials. The participants were trained with various skills of Scouting and Guiding as per the syllabus of National Training handbook of BS&G.

Thinking Day Celebrations and Divisional Award Ceremony

On 22^nd February 2013, Thinking Day was celebrated at KV NIT Silchar during the Adult Leaders Training Course. Honourable Deputy Commissioner , KVS RO Silchar Sh. Somit Shrivastav and Honourable Assistant Commissioner, KVS RO SHri. R. Senthil Kumar were the Chief Guests. They Garlanded the portrait of BP and lighted the traditional lamp. Divisional and District Awards were presented to Divisional officials for their meritorious services rendered to the movement.
Divisional Award was presented to Shri. G Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) and District awards were presented to Sh. RK Gupta, Smt. Roel Mary Rose and Smt. Rikta Mitra. Earlier an annual newsletter highlighting the activities of Silchar Division BS&G was released by Hobourable Deputy Comissioner, KVS RO SIlchar.

Course for Leader Trainers
Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) underwent the Course for Leader Trainers held at National Training Centre BS&G in March 2013 and got qualified.

Unit Level Activities
As per the Annual Calendar 2012, Vidyalayas under Silchar Division have conducted various activites at unit level like Hikes, Advancement of Badges, Community Development campaings, Trekking, Annual Camps, Celebration of Days etc and have submitted detailed reports with photographs.

Prime Minister Shield Competition Activities in KV Leimakhong

It is a delight to learn that KV Leimakhong has started the activities for Prime Ministers Shield Competition 2013. Recently they have organized a Poster making Competition for Leprosy Awareness and a Road Safety Campaign on 12th and 17th of July 2013.
Congratulations to the Scouts, Scoutmasters and Principal of KV Leimakhong.

 

Mr. Soumyajit Nath, PRT (music), KV Haflong in Community Singing Course at NTC Pachmarhi from 7th to 16th June 2013

Mr. Soumyajit Nath, PRT(Music) of KV Haflong participated in the Community Singing Course organised by The Bharat Scouts and Guides at NTC Pachmarhi from 7th to 16th June 2013. We thank KVS Head Quarters for giving our region a wonderful opportunity.
