Thinking Day Celebrations and Divisional and District Award Ceremony at KV NIT Silchar

Thinking Day Celebrations and Divisional and District Award Ceremony was organized at KV NIT Silchar on 22nd February 2013 in between the Training Courses for Adult Leaders at the same venue.
Miss. M. Zuberi, Principal, KV NIT Silchar welcomed the gathering. Shri. Somit Shrivastava, Deputy Commissioner of KVS RO Silchar was the chief guest of the day who garlanded the portrait of Lord Baden Powell and lighted the lamp. Shri. R. Senthil Kumar, AC, KVS RO Silchar, elaborated the achievements of the division in Scout/Guide activities and inspired the teachers to contribute to the movement. Divisional Award and District Awards were presented to the Divisional officials and Unit Leaders for their meritorious service to the movement.

Divisional Award was presented to Shri. G Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) and District awards were presented to Sh. RK Gupta, Smt. Roel Mary Rose and Smt. Rikta Mitra and Mr. Nahar Singh Meena. Earlier an annual newsletter highlighting the activities of Silchar Division BS&G was released by Hobourable Deputy Comissioner, KVS RO Silchar. There was a short variety entertainment by the Scouters and Guiders followed by refreshments.

In his key note address, H'ble Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of Knowledge, attitude and skills and asked the gathering to spread scouting where ever they go with commitment. The Programme concluded with vote of thanks by Smt. Rikta Mitra, DOC(G).

Training Courses for Adult Leaders - KVS BS&G SIlchar

Basic and Advanced Training Courses for Adult Leaders was conducted at KV NIT Silchar from 20^th to 27^th Feb. 2013. Basic Course for Cub Masters with 19 Participants was lead by Mr. Ramayan Choudhury, ALT(c). Basic Course for  Guide Captains  with 12 participants  was lead by Mrs. Neela Das, ALT (G) and Advanced Course for Scoutmasters with 16 participants was lead by Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) ably assisted by the divisional officials. The participants were trained in various skills of Scouting and Guiding as per the syllabus of National Training handbook of BS&G.

Patrol Leaders Workshop - 2012-13

As a part of our annual Scout Guide programme, the Divisional Association organized a Patrol Leaders Workshop 2012-13 at KV ONGC Srikona from 8^th to 10^th of February 2013 in which 187 Scout/Guide Patrol Leaders, Patrol Seconds and prospective leaders of 16 Vidyalayas of Silchar Division participated. The Workshop was based on the following Objectives:

·         To identify the Leadership Qualities and other soft skills

·         Train scout/guide to become an effective Patrol Leader and to follow patrol system

·         To provide hands on training experience in Scouting Skills

·         To bring a change in Attitude – which is very essential in the present scenario

The Workshop was inaugurated by Chairman VMC of KV Srikona on 8th February 2013 which was followed by a session on Patrol System. Shri. C. Mani, AC KVS RO Silchar  visited the campsite and motivated the scouts and guides to take develop leadership qualities. In the evening the participants played 10 team games in base method which they enjoyed very much. This was followed by a session on Hiking and Note Taking. After dinner, there was a campfire in which the participants presented their talents patrol wise. After Campfire, there was a session on Star Gazing followed by Patrol Leaders meet and lights out.

On the second day, after BP Exercise and Morning Inspection, there was a flag break in guide method. At the first session for the day, Shri. R. Senthil Kumar, AC, KVS RO Silchar gave a presentation on Leadership and Personality Development which inspired and encouraged participants to take up leadership responsibilities. The next session was an inter-patrol pioneering project building in which the participants reproduced the pioneering projects which was given to them in printed format. After lunch, there was a sing song session followed by spare time activities. In the evening, there was a Grand Campfire in which Principal of KV Masimpur was the chief Guest. There was a colorful show by the scouts and guides presenting various scouting skills. After dinner and Patrol Leaders meet, there was lights out.

The last day of the Workshop began with All faith prayer meeting. This was followed by a couple of sessions on soft-skills and scoutcraft skills. After lunch, there was a valedictory function in which certificates were distributed to the participants. After Flag lowering there was a  formal dismissal. The Workshop was lead by Mr. G. Bhuvan Babu, ALT(S) ably assisted by Mr. D. Chakraborty, Mr. RK Gupta, Mrs. Roel Mary Rose and Mrs. Rikta Mitra, Divisional Officials of KVS BS&G Silchar.
